It all starts here. These were the production machines that defined what it meant to be an Atari 8-bit Home Computer. From the heavy-duty, FCC-compliant 400 & 800, to the modern-looking and economically-built XE series — with the XL series sitting somewhere in between — Atari provided a variety of choices over the years; but the powerful core chipset (and general compatibility) remained constant.
